tapestry pix

I'm going to try and post the new tapestry I just finished. It's called Please Don"t Shoot Me: Portrait of a Young Man, As Witnessed by the Artist, Cincinnati Riots 2001

  1. Powerful piece, Cathie!
The simple shapes of the figure and sign combined with the gray, black and red background blocks say it all in so much stronger way than a mere photograph of the sight would have.
    Thank you for doing it.

  2. This is an amazing piece Cathie! It is right up there with pieces of tapestry I saw at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. The tapestries there were from countries at war and like this one have a visceral impact on the viewer. I hope you will have this in some shows. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  3. I think the patterning strengthens the image and makes it solidly tapestry. Compelling, strong image!

    1. No, I cannot give you permission to use the image. This post was made by Cathie Beckman and it would be she who would have to give you permission to do so.
